The Mediterranean. Il Mediterraneo. La Méditerranée. Η Μεσόγειος. البحر الأبيض المتوسط.

What would you carry from the Mediterranean?

There are days in the city when we catch ourselves drifting.
Dreaming of the sea, the heat, the light — but not just any sea, any heat, or any light.

The Mediterranean.
Il Mediterraneo.
La Méditerranée.
Η Μεσόγειος.
البحر الأبيض المتوسط.

A place that isn’t just a location, but a feeling. Sounds, scents, lights. But also its people—their languages, traditions, shared cuisines, shaded conversations, and the rhythms of life that run from markets to coastlines.

This sea shaped our DNA at The Place Bureau. It’s how we think about place—as layered, lively, full of exchanges and quite often contradictions.

So we decided to make a bag to hold all of that. Three colors pulled from its coastlines:
Azure like deep water.
Amber like sun-warmed stone.
Terracotta like the earth underfoot.

“Mediterranean” in the many languages spoken along its shores. Arabic. French. Catalan. Greek. Italian. Turkish. And more. Imagine the words warped, as though seen through water.

As summer heatwaves hit, this is a small gesture of sun.
A reminder of the call of cultures shaped by this great sea.

If you could carry one piece of the Mediterranean home with you, what would it be?
